Williams Operating Corporation – Tailings Management Facility
Our firm was recently awarded a contract to upgrade and extend the existing clay core tailings dams and construct two additional dams at the Williams Mine in Hemlo. This tailings containment project entails the movement of 470,000 m3 of various materials, consolidation of the bedrock base, drilling and blasting of a new emergency spillway and the development of three granular pits.

A bigger hammer

The old adage says “if it don’t fit, don’t force it get a bigger hammer” runs true around here.  We recently added a 4,580 kg hydraulic hammer to compliment our 3,860 hydraulic hammer, which makes 2 new hammers this year for us – an investment of over $ 200,000.  This new hammer is ideally suited to blast free mining, secondary rock breaking, concrete removal and foundation work.  Currently it’s working at the  Lac Des Iles Mine breaking rock .
